So, the thought is that some of the older Orinoco Gold card utilities let you set the card to "Act as a Base Station". This sounds like the type of thing that would show up as an AP or a card depending on who was looking at it. You don't have any old cards hanging around, do you? Also, is the facility your talking about isolated, or are there neighbors?

The question is, of course, did you find it?
