Do you mean by WLAN profiles WLAN interfaces OR in simple words wireless network adapters? So on a given host suppose we have 2 radio cards we could have 2 instances of station bound to separate interfaces and in state-1 with diffrent (OR same APs). But if we have just a one interface then in that case we have only one instance of station in state-1 (or associated) with a BSS.
