  • I'm taking a guess at this one, although I should know.

    I think that the DHCP request will come from the client after EAP authentication takes place. The reason I think that is because only port 1812 and 1813 are open, and those are just for authentication purposes, so how would it get an IP?

    That did get me to thinking though, when the Authentication Server is communicating with the AP, is it (the AS) sending the data by IP, and if so, is it the IP of the Ethernet port of the AP? That doesn't make sense. Maybe the AS is always on the same subnet, so, it will send it by MAC to the Ethernet port of the AP. Still doesn't make sense.

    Hey, I think it would actually send it to the MAC of the Supplicant, which the AP will intercept. Yeah.. I think that is how it works. Stream of consciousness is so scary....
