  • Wireless switches vary widely depending on the manufacturer. Some access ports (or mobility points, etc.) have more intelligence than others. Some access ports communicate back to the switch via L2, some L3. Some switches have built-in PoE, while others do not. The access ports DO NOT have to be plugged directly into the switch. The main idea behind a wireless switch is the ability to centrally manage their access ports and provide functionality such as seamlessroaming, etc.
