  • After reading this thread, I am still confused. I understand the analogies of the doughnut or the magnifying glass.

    However, if we are *lowering* the output power, but then concentrating the signal through antenna gain, would we effectively get the same RSSI at a given distance?

    Let's say we are standing 75 feet from a system that is 50mW of output power with a 3dBi antenna (100 mW of EIRP) and the RSSI we were picking up was "60".

    We turn down the output power to 25mW and change out the antenna to a 6 dBi antenna (still 100mW of ERIP) and go stand in the same spot. Won't the RSSI (with the same receiver) be "60"?
