    I would not say that most OSes have native support for biometrics. Typically you have to add software and hardware to support biometrics. Although some OSes have software drivers as part on the install system, you'd still need to buy the equipment to do it -- HOWEVER, IBM/Lenovo laptops and some PDAs (iPaqs) now come standard with biometric readers for fingerprint identification. This is the future of password authentication because normal users passwords are almost always too weak and good passwords are too hard to remember.
