  • Hi Friends
    would you please tell me that which one of the followings has better performance in relating to Impedance;

    1. a cable with 75-ohm impedance
    2. a cable with 50-ohm impedance

    thanks.[/b]

    It depends on the application. With wireless (802.11) stick with the 50 ohms to avoid impedance mismatch.

  • The performance of a transmission line is not really related to it's impedance.

    Of vastly more importance is the cable's loss at a particular frequency. If you are only making a very short cable such as a pigtail then you could tolerate somewhat lossy cable but if you were running a significant length then you really need to choose a good quality, low loss cable.

    THIS WEB PAGE will give you an idea of the losses of commonly used cables at both 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz.

    The impedance question is somewhat academic anyway ... as I've never seen any wireless network equipment that uses 75 ohms.

  • Thank u for your nice responses gentlemen.
