  • Gartner just published (February 18th) a security best practices report that says:

    Security Best Practices: Review all LAN infrastructures, and configure WLAN management to
    avoid single-point-of-failure risks for controllers by ensuring multiple paths to the controllers and
    failover controller hardware or controllerless architectures. Do not use static authentication tables
    or preshared keys to connect users during outages.

    They, like the rest of the industry, have realized that a controller-less architecture is the next step in high availability (resiliency). The problems with deploying redundant controllers are: 1) high cost, 2) no stateful failover. Keep an eye out for other vendors announcing controller-less infrastructures shortly...
