Especially interesting to me were the Antenna's (physical) attachments. Two Rivets on each for the 1142, plus a dead-sure RF cable attachment to the antenna.

There is no way that slight bumps or an overall change in case/ceiling alignment is going to change the performance of one of those. Yes, you can change the overall lobe direction, by re-aligning the entire case, but the ground plane and the active antenna element are not going to vary.

You's be surprised at how haphazard this is in some equipment.

Take a VERY close look at the antenna traces in the earlier pics too. Some antenna designer is having lots of fun!

Success Stories
