I have noticed the same symptoms with Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG and the Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG adapter, as one of your links states. What I have done to fix this is to upgrade to the latest driver on their website, which at the time was 9.0.4.8, and this will seem to fix the problem almost entirely. It has been a big problem for me seeing as how all of our IBM laptops have been coming with that card installed by default.
