For outdoor wireless solution if the wireless transmission has to pass through a high tension wire a long the way, will it be affected? Why and how?
Thanks in advance. -
Ripblade,
As long as the high tension line(s) are well maintained and the insulators are in good repair and there is no electrical arcing or sparking your 802.11 transmission should not be effected.
There is a "corona discharge" in the immediate vicinity of the high voltage wire caused by the ionization of the air which can be quite loud. You probably have heard the familiar "buzzing" around high voltage lines.
This corona discharge will interfere most with AM radio but it should not cause much of a problem in 802.11 spread spectrum.
