  • Hi,

I was reading the CWNE Reference book the 802.11 Handbook 2nd ed. and saw the following relating to the Signal Field in the DSSS PLCP sublayer on page 252

The binary value in this field is equal to the data rate multiplied by 100 kbits/s

    further it says
-- In 802.11 base standard , two rates are supported:0Ah for 1Mbits/s DBPSK and 14 hex for 2Mbits/s for DQPSK--- Where do these hexadecimal values come from?

In the CWAP book on page 225 it states relating to the DSSS Header Signal Field

The value in this field is equal to the data rate divided by 100kbps

Can someone be so kind to explain how these 2 references to the DSSS PLCP Header Signal Field are related to one another, or explain the correct context if i have misconstued it.

    any help is always appreciated
    Rico

  • Rico, I second the comment about Criss. Have a nice day.
