  • Greetings,

I've just read an article in the blogs section talking, apart from other things, about co-located APs on different channels & that they'll interfere with each other at channel 1 and 6. When I check the 20mhz spectral mask, I can see quite a massive overlap, but, what about the APs being on channels 1 & 11 ? Would they still interfere when put only a small distance apart ?

    Thanks!

  • Channels 1 and 6 will overlap, if the power is high enough.
Channels 1 and 11 won't, if you keep the power at legal levels.

Get a spectrum analyser and try it:

  • Thanks for clarification, Aetherer.. I'll need to look for some free/shareware spectrum analyzer since my budget is currently limited.. :?

  • I'm afraid to say that the Wi-Spy is probably the cheapest you'll find.

Most spectrum As come in at far more than $1000, and this, at $399 is already a fraction of that.
The cheaper one is $199, and it has done us no end of good:

Good luck on making one though. If you find a cheap one, make sure you let us all know :)
