Thanks Howard.
These I would add to the paper (but I was not aware of it in 2017)
Launched in 2018:
Cisco Digital Network Architecture (DNA) - Analytics & Assurance:

Intent Based Networking:

Cisco DNA Center with pro-active assurance (Wi-Fi + wired):

and utilizing and an AP as a sensor (AP1800) or integrated (AP2800, AP3800, AP4800) controlled via DNA Center

I am trying to find an alternative to the Riverbed AirPcap NX adaptors as well. I work in the Support Center for Zebra Technologies and we sometimes send out a set of adaptors to a site in order to get a wireless sniffer trace taken. We like the AirPcap NX because the customer/partner can simply use Wireshark with them and get the necessary trace. For us ( Zebra ) it is much easier to set out 3 USB adaptors than a whole laptop.
Does anyone have an idea for a USB 802.11ac ( I will even settle for an 802.11n at this point) adaptor we can use with WireShark ?

I prefer Omni Peek, and I use the Linksys AE6000, and have used the AE1000 for /n.
Talk to the Engineering team in Zebra's Rhode Island office.

Hi Howard,
Omnipeek is great but it needs a license. This means we need to send out a laptop with Omnipeek along with the USB adapters in order to capture the trace. We've had some bad experiences in the past where the kits were not returned in a timely manner or "lost" in transit.
In our current model, we just send out 3 USB adapters. The customer/partner provides the laptop.
Do you know if the Linksys AE6000 can be used with Wireshark ?

I tried looking for Wireshark adapters, but did not find a good reference.
The problem is you need ALL of the wireless packets involved. Just about any wireless wireless dongle will work for one particular machine, but only for packets related to that address, and without the header information in most cases.
Did you call Engineering in RI ????
Do you know MB ?

CommView for WiFi and the Edimax AC1750 adapter. or the Aircheck G2...both support 11ac w/3SS.

TamoSoft published recently a blog post on why and how they create custom drivers for Windows. It is an interesting read:

I thought that was a very interesting perspective, especially from a developer, that you don't often get to see.
Most people never get to hear about some of these details - and in addition don't realize how much effort gets put into the firmware, to keep it up to date.
