  • I am using the stock Airport card and driver, never modified or tweaked it from the OSX Leopard install. Wireshark version 1.2.6 (current stable). One thing that is important is that you need to modify the permissions on the /dev/bpf* devices for read/write by your user that will be doing the packet caps. There is documentation included to set it up using a script but I usually just do it myself using chgrp admin /dev/bpf* and chmod g+rw /dev/bpf* at a terminal console. Also of note, you have to have the X11 base installed (included on the OSX install DVD.)

    Yep, promiscuous is supported of other WLAN devices on the subnet and it also supports radio tap. Good stuff!! Beacon frame analysis, bit field analysis. Man I love this wireless...errr...stuff!
