  • Oh Elevators... such a bane to my existence. Agree with George's statements above.

    Stress to client it's going to be expensive to start with.

    Second - you'll find it VERY difficult to get tacit approval to put anything in the elevator shaft.

    Perhaps the old adage, "It's better to seek forgiveness than permission" might play into your design, but if you get caught... hmmm...

    If you can't get copper into the elevator car, you might try a fiber run, with media converters on each end. But you also still have to access power in the car, and usually without touching anything that is already powered.

    Lots and lots of work to do these right.
