  • So what is the point of trying to send a 'ping of death', every OS I know of patched this hole many years ago. If you could send it from a client, and if the AP could send it, and finally if another receiving client could receive it at the MAC layer, as soon as IP Layer received it, the TCP/IP stack in the receiving device would discard the frame.

    Is there some specific reason this bit of network trivia is of interest... OK, not just interest, but actual use?

    I've done a lot of pen testing of wireless and since the client NICs won't ever send this up the stack I can't see the value... But I've been wrong many times in my life.
